Be prepared to evacuate if you work or live in an evacuation zone.
Take your insurance policies with you.
You need your policy number to report your claim. Keep policies and all important documents in waterproof containers.

as soon as possible to report your claim. In the event of a
major storm, you may be asked to report your claim directly
to your insurance carrier. A list of insurance carriers and
contact information is posted on our website. Look for
emergency numbers in the event of a disaster.

Check for structural damage before re-entering
your home or business.

Do NOT go in if there is a chance of the
building collapsing.
Do NOT use matches, cigarette lighters or other
open flames upon re-entering your property.
Gas may be trapped inside.

Keep the power off until an electrician has
inspected your system for safety.

Avoid using toilets and tap water until you have
checked for sewage and water line damage.

Take photos of damaged property. This will
make filing your claim easier. An insurance
adjuster will need to see the damage in order
to process your claim.

Make emergency repairs and protect property
from further damage.

Call a contractor for estimating the damage.

Keep complete records of all of your expenses.
